Director of Student Life (Division of Student Affairs)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director provides leadership and strategic direction for the Department, its staff and programs.
Develops and manages Student Life budgets, department policies, directives and plans.
Provides leadership and direction for student activities, student governance, University student work-study program, university ID cards, student leadership, intramural and university sports, student organizations, and other university events and activities. Manages Student Life facilities.
Represents Office of Student Life on college committees, supports broad college-wide programs such as new student orientation, and addresses student-related concerns and activities as they emerge.
Serves as University Adjudication Officer based upon the developmental model of student discipline.
Oversees and directs the development of Student life publications and online departmental content for the university website and portal.
Supervises and evaluates Student Life professional staff, paraprofessionals, part-time and work-study students.
Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree preferred in student personnel, higher education, counseling or related field.
Progressive knowledge and professional experience in administration of functions regarding college-level student life activities, leadership development, program development and budget management
General understanding of student development theory.
Bilingual Skills (English and Arabic) is a major plus.
Strong computer literacy and software applications.
Ability to coordinate and execute student life activities and functions in a multi-tasked environment.
Ability to work with diverse populations, and in a bilingual environment.
Good interpersonal relationship skills including the ability to work in a dynamic and team oriented environment.
Ability to think critically, problem solve, and work well in a crisis. To motivate persons and focus their energy towards mutual outcomes.
Work may be required to be performed during evenings or weekends, and allows for flexible scheduling to deal with interruptions throughout the workday.
