Local Administration Officer, Embassy of Switzerland
Duties
– Operations management in the Embassy with safeguarding Swiss Interests
– Support tasks for the Regional Consular Centre (RCC)
– Responsible for all operational management tasks and reports to the Head of Mission.
– Administers and maintains independently the real estate of the Embassy.
– Carries out the administrative personnel management of the locally hired staff.
– Keeps auxiliary accounts in cooperation with Head Quarter’s Finance department.
– Administers independently the IT and technical systems of the representation abroad (with the support of the IT services at Headquarters)
– Responsible for managing files and archives.
– Responsible for security management under the lead of the Head of Mission.
– Provides various support tasks and acts as contact person for the Regional Consular Centre (RCC) in Doha.

Remuneration: KWD 1200 per month, paid 13 times a year
Working time: 40 hours per week in a five-day working week
Vacation: According to Kuwait labor law

Qualifications / Experience
– Commercial/business apprenticeship or equivalent
– Commercial/business school / Professional baccalaureate in economics / Academic baccalaureate / University of applied sciences

Knowledge
– Previous experience of managing a small enterprise
– Good knowledge of one of the Swiss national languages (German, French or Italian) and/or English (speaking/reading/writing)
– Solid knowledge of Arabic (speaking/reading/writing)
– Good knowledge of the host country Kuwait
– Knowledge of Switzerland and its international relations

Swiss representation staff member (locally hired)
– Management of business matters and conduct of duties in conjunction with Swiss interests
– Compilation of independent or commissioned reports and memos on political, economic, cultural, development cooperation, scientific and environmental affairs
– Safeguarding and further expansion of Embassy’s contact network
– Informing headquarter of developments with regard to the political context in Kuwait
– Organization of visits for Swiss delegations, events and activities, either independently or upon request

Duties to fulfill for the Swiss Business Hub (Dubai) / to be confirmed
Support Swiss / Liechtenstein companies along the process of accessing and developing the Kuwait market, by providing information, market analysis, executing or managing consulting mandates

– Market research and partner search projects for companies interested in accessing and developing the local market by preparing sector and specific reports.
– Organize or contribute to marketing and trade/investment promotion events and attend & report on trade exhibitions.
– Develop and manage a local network (e.g. experts, industry and trade, government, foreign business councils, media etc.).
– Contribute to annual planning and reporting exercises, incl. participation at regional team meetings and in training courses / consulting events in Switzerland.
– Organize or contribute to events and delegation trips and fact finding missions.
– Report to and collaborate regularly with a senior member of the SBH-GCC-team and work closely with the main office in Switzerland as well as other trade offices in the region.

Qualifications / Experience
– Business school / Academic / Baccalaureate / University of Applied Sciences
– Past equivalent work experience or background
– Several years of professional experience in a managerial position, e.g. business development, project management, marketing, public relations, consulting in Kuwait
– Experience in dealing with authorities / government
– Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills
– Interest in or experience of European business culture
– Strong analytical and presentational skills
– Creative and proactive

Knowledge
– Good knowledge of one of the Swiss National Languages (German, French or Italian) and/or English (speaking/reading/writing)
– Solid knowledge of Arabic (reading, speaking and writing)
