REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY TO:
• Head of Physical Medicine & Rheumatology Department.
• Medical Home Care Department. Coordinator. ( In charge )

POSITION SUMMARY:
Applies the plan of physical treatment program and follow the precautions prescribed by the physical medicine physician for each individual patient according to the principles and rules of practice.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, accreditation requirements, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Applies plan of physical treatment program prescribed by physical medicine physician for each patient including; electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, magnotherapy, thermal therapy, manual therapy.
• Follows the precaution mentioned by the Physical Medicine Physician for each patient and for each physical therapeutic modality.
• Applies prognostic function ability tests (muscle, joints, pain scale, etc.)
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps and inclined surfaces, whirpool and contrast bath.
• Provides instructions in therapeutic procedure to be continued by the patient.
• Evaluates records and reports on patient’s progress for review.
• Participates in educational programs and in-service training programs.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Accredited training program in Physiotherapy.
• Recognized degree of Physiotherapy.

THE APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE:
• Three (3) years experience.

Physiotherapist - New Mowasat Hospital
Provides physical therapy service to patients through a range of therapeutic actions and activities. Applies the plan of physical treatment program prescribed by the physical medicine physician for each individual patient according to rehabilitation treatment protocols and departmental policies and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Applies plan of physical treatment program prescribed by physical medicine physician for each patient including; electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, magnotherapy, thermal therapy, manual therapy, therapeutic kinesiology, etc.
2. Assists the patient with his/her individual cognitive, perceptual and physical programs
3. Applies prognostic function ability tests such as muscle, joints, pain scale, strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, coordination, breathing and other motor skills etc.
4. Directs and aids patients in active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps and inclined surfaces, whirlpool and contrast bath
5. Follows the medical precautions for each individual patient as instructed by the Physical Medicine physician
6. Maintains patient’s progress notes, evaluates records and reports on patient’s progress for review
7. Manages and operates equipment safely and carefully while complying with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control
8. Participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care needs
9. Advises patients concerning therapeutic procedures to be continued on their own, teaching and demonstrating safe manual handling techniques and use of equipment
10. Consults with and refers patients to the Physical Medicine physician if additional medical treatment is determined necessary
11. Manages files, patient charts and all required medical and hospital records as needed
12. Participates in bimonthly CME department meetings and other in service training programs
13. Attends weekly departmental meeting for the improvement of patient care services and delivery
14. Performs all other additional assignments as requested by the Department Head

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy
Licensing: Valid License from Ministry of Health to practice as a Physiotherapist.
EXPERIENCE: 3 to 5 years experience in Physiotherapy with preferably 2 years in a multi-specialty secondary or tertiary care hospital.

OTHER SKILLS: Proficiency in handling orthotic, therapeutic, assistive or adaptive equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of quality control methods and statistics.
- Highly developed physical skills, dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
- Good communication skills, including listening, negotiating skills, communication of ideas and ability to provide advice and teaching to other health professionals.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, including ability to provide empathic emotional support to patients.

Computer Skills: Basic MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Hospital MIS
Language Skills: Good spoken and written English, Arabic is an advantage.

PHYSICAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works primarily in the hospital environment as such and may be exposed to infections and patient elements.

Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices to ensure that patients’ pharmaceutical needs are effectively met in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations and Pharmacy Policy and Guidelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interprets, fills, and dispenses prescriptions in accordance with the written directions of attending physicians
2. Compounds, bottles or packages, and labels medications and pharmaceuticals
3. Advises patients and family on use of various medications including dosage, composition, proper medication storage, side effects and drug interactions
4. Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment and health-care supplies
5. Offer health promotion and prevention activities, for example, training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors
6. Collaborate with other medical professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics
7. Checks stock on a regular basis to identify and reorder outdated stock and ensure that stock is maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements
8. Ensures secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis
9. Ensures accurate maintenance of patient records, files and other pharmacy records
10. Assists in preparing required reports by compiling information
11. Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
12. Participates in meetings as required

1. Daily machine care (monitoring of hilum level, machine room temperature, oxygen pressure, UBS and proper turning on and off).
2. Patient data entry.
3. Check the patient for metals and confirm that he has no pacemakers or surgical clips before entering the machine room.
4. Proper selection, handling and connection of the surface coil for the appropriate study.
5. Careful positioning of the patient considering the examination field.

8. Primary review of the images for each sequence.
9. Prepare the patient for injection in case of need for the contrast material.
